We Need Volunteers For The Flea!

The Winter Fetish Fair Fleamarket™ is fast approaching, and we need YOU for FFF 34! (Friday, February 12th through Sunday, February 14th 2009, Valentine's Day/Presidents Day weekend).

We're putting out the call for volunteers to help with the Flea. For anyone who doesn't know, running a successful Flea is highly dependent on the generous labor of our many volunteers -- without you, we wouldn't be able to do what we do. We'll need help loading-in vendors and loading them out at the end of the weekend, and everything in between -- door monitors, ID and wristband checkers, meal helpers, exit pollsters, and more.

In addition to knowing you helped put on one of the best events around AND supporting NELA in its mission of education, advocacy and charitable giving, you'll receive other rewards for volunteering, such as FREE entry into the Flea, a NELA Associate's card, and possibly an invite to the Volunteers Appreciation Party. The more you volunteer, the more you receive!

The rewards program is as follows

  • 1 shift (2 hours) - FREE admission to FFF 34.
  • 2 shifts (4 hours) - FREE admission to FFF 34, and a NELA Associates Card good for one year.
  • 3 shifts (6 hours) - FREE admission to FFF 34, a NELA Associates Card good for one year, and a NELA t-shirt.
  • 4 shifts (8 hours) - FREE admission to FFF 34, a NELA Associates Card good for one year, a NELA t-shirt, and FREE admission to the Volunteer party, and the chance to bring one guest for $10.
  • 5 shifts (10 hours) - FREE admission to FFF 34, a NELA Associates Card good for one year, a NELA t-shirt, and FREE admission to the Volunteer party for yourself AND one guest, and the chance to bring up to two additional guests for $10 each.

If you're interested in volunteering, please check out this online (and completely work-safe) spreadsheet:

http://tiny.cc/FleaVolunteers

The spreadsheet has four pages, Friday Vols./Saturday Vols./Sunday Vols./Volunteer Job Descriptions. You can flip back and forth between the pages by clicking on the tabs at the top of the page. We need load-in volunteers, volunteer lounge staff, food staff, NELA Associates and Sales table staff, ID checkers, wristbanders, elevator monitors, classroom monitors, exit pollsters, floor staff and more, across all three days; you can learn more about each job on the Volunteer Job Descriptions page.

Please note that the spreadsheet is read-only, and NOT designed for people to fill in shifts for themselves. If you'd like to sign up for one or more shifts, please email us with the day, times and duties at:

nela.volsched (at) gmail (dot) com

We'll get back to you and confirm with you what shift(s) you’re signing up for from that email. If you're reading this email on a group list, please don't hit reply, as it'll go to the list administrator and not us – again, please email us directly at nela.volsched (at) gmail (dot) com to sign up for shifts! Please also note that shifts are TWO HOURS OR LONGER in length – we CANNOT sign people up for single-hour shifts. So you could do a two-hour shift, or a three-hour shift, or two two-hour shifts, etc. – but no single-hour shifts, as it makes the schedule too hectic.

Let us know if your information has changed!

NELA is updating its database -- if you've changed email addresses, please send us your new email address (along with your old one and your name so we can correlate them all), and we'll update our database to keep you in the loop. (These updates may be sent to jandk AT nelaonline.org) Thanks.
